Although a the city has been constantly changing and large amounts of redevelopment has already taken place and is continuing to do so, it also has a vast amount of green open spaces with 13.5 square miles of parkland; this includes Sutton Park, the largest urban park in Europe - recently designated as a national nature reserve. Also you can be in the heart of the countryside in within 40 minutes. This countryside includes some of the most beautiful countryside in England including the Cotswolds, the Malvern’s, the Severn Valley and Cannock Chase.
The city provides a wide variety of affordable housing, everything from modern city apartments to elegant victorian terraces. While smaller towns and countryside areas are within reasonable commuting distance. There is a wide range of schools with good academic standards - plus three universities.
Sport in Birmingham
If you love sport you can't go wrong with the Premier League and Nationwide League football, test match cricket, rugby, international tennis, golf and athletics that have their home in Birmingham. For those who enjoy doing as much as spectating there's many sports centres and local teams you can join as well as the option of all the outdoor activities you can enjoy in and around Birmingham including mountain biking, walking, climbing, canoeing, sailing and much more.
How to get to Birmingham
Whether it's by road, rail or air, travelling to and from Birmingham is easy. The city is conveniently central to an extensive network of motorways and railways. Birmingham International Airport is ten minutes away by train, while London is only a 90 minute train journey or a two hour drive.
